Outlast® Fabric Technology
Outlast® technology was originally developed for NASA to protect astronauts against temperature fluctuations in space. Outlast® material is a temperature change material that can be blended into materials suitable for applying to fibers, fabrics and coated materials.
Outlast® materials have the ability to interact with your body to help balance temperature by absorbing, storing and releasing the heat that you produce and maintaining a comfort zone.
One way to demonstrate the performance level of Outlast® products compared to traditional products is with a Thermal Imaging Camera. This camera shows temperature differences in color. From hottest to coldest, the colors are: white, red, yellow, green and blue. The images show Outlast® worn in a warm environment, keeping the subject's feet from overheating and reducing sweat. Similarly in a cool environment, chill is reduced.
